100 Reasons I Love My Husband (part 1)

April 24th, 2008

Well a lady whom I know from a forum posted a link to her list and it got me thinking about how I need to make one too.

This is the link to HER blog list, I believe there is or will soon be a mass list there of others who have taken up the list making.

Want to join me? Post a list on your blog, and then leave me a message or leave one at Psalm 128.
(Hmm, Still can’t make the linky show up in the text so here it is http://psalm128.wordpress.com/category/my-life/marriage/list-why-you-love-your-husband/ )

Here is the first part of mine:

1. He is goofy.
2. He is super intelligent.
3. He loves me even when I fail him.
4. He relies on the Lord especially when things are hard.
5. He doesn’t tell me when he is scared, because he doesn’t want to frighten me. (and there is nothing more frightening than whatever can frighten your husband.)
6. He is bold.
7. He is strong.
8. He doesn’t cry.
9. He is right there beside me when I labor with delivering our kids.
10. He loves our kids.
11. He does a great job of training them up in the admonition of the Lord.
12. He is extremely consistent.
13. He helps me to be consistent.
14. He really loves my cooking.
15. He loves my cooking so much he doesn’t usually want to eat out.
16. He buys me flowers on Valentines Day.

19. He listens to me when I am hormonal.
20. He encourages me not to out of control when I feel emotional.
21. He picks up the slack when I am sick with pregnancy.
22. He feels really bad for me when I am sick with pregnancy, because he wants to help but can’t.
23. He keeps on giving me babies, even though I get sick and mean during pregnancy.
24. He loves the babies we have, and plays with them.
25. He took a job that allows him to work from home, so he can be with us more.
26. He demands respect, from me and his kids, and he taught me what that means.

A House Tour. Clean

April 17th, 2008

Well folks I don’t live that way EVERYDAY. Here is what happened after two hours of cleaning with a five year old helper, and a break for lunch.

house-clean-001.jpg

The Entry again. Still a fifteen pound bag of potatoes on the floor… but where can you store that?!

house-clean-002.jpg

Cleaner floor, cleaner sink.

house-clean-003.jpg

Well looky here, clean dishes, and an empty sink.

house-clean-004.jpg

Fridge, counters and stove all sparkly.

house-clean-005.jpg

“Welcome home dear, how was your day?” A nice relaxing table.

house-clean-006.jpg

A pretty place to start another project!

house-clean-007.jpg

Ahh, finally a place to relax. Wanna join me for a cuppa? Those books are going to the library today.

house-clean-008.jpg

Neatly made, comfy cozy.

house-clean-009.jpg

Well, looks like I missed a spot! Paper day is not done on cleaning day! LOL.

house-clean-010.jpg

Toys no longer strewn across the floor, and the beds a bit tidier.

house-clean-011.jpg

My sofa, much more inviting. That basket of clothes on the floor is waiting for me to fold it and put it away.

house-clean-012.jpg

Sorry that one is so dark guys. Too much light coming in the only window. *grin* Hallelujah!

house-clean-014.jpg

Another cozy place to relax.

Well, that is my house. Hope you enjoyed it.

A House Tour. Messy.

Looking out towards the outer door.

house-messy-002.jpg

Looking IN from the outer door.

house-messy-003.jpg

Looking in the INNER door to my basement apartment.

house-messy-004.jpg

To the left of the entrance.

house-messy-005.jpg

The sink, which my parent’s lovingly had added for us.

house-messy-006.jpg

To the Right of the entrance. My kitchen table.

house-messy-007.jpg

My counters and stove and fridge.

house-messy-008.jpg

Going past the kitchen into the Sewing and Homeschool area.

house-messy-009.jpg

To the right of the sewing table. A comfy sitting area, which is ALSO a wreck.

house-messy-010.jpg

A peek into our “bedroom”. The bedroom is made private by six foot bookshelves and a curtain.

house-messy-011.jpg

This is the desk for house management and webbing… but not for DH working at home. (He does that in my parents house upstairs for the time being.)

house-messy-013.jpg

Passing the sitting area again.

house-messy-014.jpg

Looking straight into the living room/ kids’ bedroom/ playroom.

house-messy-015.jpg

To the right, the play area and play shelves.

house-messy-016.jpg

Turn around and look left and you see our sofa.

house-messy-017.jpg

Look to the right and you see the TV and a rocker.

house-messy-018.jpg

Further to the right, you see the kids dresser, a rocker, and the ONLY windows to the outside (a sliding glass door).

house-messy-019.jpg

Now I have turned all the way around and you see the beds again.

That’s it. The whole 850 sf in total disarray. I can’t believe I shared it all. *blush*

Now give me two hours and I will show you what it looks like clean!

Potty Training

March 21st, 2008

Well, I have really been thinking lately about writing a book on Potty Training. Would you be interested in reading it? Interested in helping me write it?

I am looking for questions and answers about potty training. I plan to do most of the answering… but, if you have some good ideas, they might make it into the book too!

So far, the plan is to write it here on the blog, then to publish it once it is done. These plans might change, you never know. Especially since I tend to be a dreamer, not a finisher…

The book is primarily about Early Start Potty Training… Elimination Communication… and then trouble shooting..

What do you think?

How I Potty Trained My 20 Month Old Daughter

March 4th, 2008

This is part two to How I potty Trained my 15 month old son.

Well, as I left off in the last post about potty training, I had a 10 month old daughter who was still in diapers due to my pregnancy sickness.

This is what happened next. We started renovations on our house in NC, which sent our lives into upheaval again, and so I really was inconsistent with the potty. We packed up our house and moved to NY. Once we got there and got settled, I tried to get consistent again with the potty, but it was off and on for months, until I finally had baby number three last September, and my daughter was then 17 months.

As soon as I had that baby I got dilligent with my daughter about the potty. I rewarded her this time with Skittles, since she already knew what to do with a potty, but was not motivated enough to give up the diapers for good. Boy did those Skittles work wonders. Suddenly she was interested in putting her pee in the potty. I spent a good two months undoing my inconsistent training of her. I put the Baby Bjorn potty chair out in the living room again. But after those two months of really taking her to the potty, asking her if she needed the potty, and having a couple accidents (more at home than out and about) she was finally ready for training panties all day long at 19 months.

We had two or three accidents outside of the house. Mostly during times when I was unavailable to help her. But then at 20 months, no more accidents. Now she is 21 months old, and has been a month in big girl panties. I taught her how to pull her own pants up and down, and now she takes HERSELF to the baby potty all day long while we are at home. She holds her pee up to 2.5 hours now, and really becomes distressed if she has to hold it longer. She also does make her poopy in the potty too.

She is gaining ground in the night time training. As I did with my son I am just letting it take its course. I put her in a pull up for naps and night time and she wakes up from naps dry half the week. The night time diapers seem to be less wet too. I am very excited to declare her day time trained. I cannot wait to see night time training too!

On to baby number three. She is five months old, and any day now, I plan to start training her. I wonder if I can finish HER by 12 months?? I have noticed a few things about her already however… she doesn’t go every fifteen minutes like my middle child did. In fact many times I go to change her and she is dry. Then I wait a bit longer and she is soaked. So she seems to already hold it a bit. This makes it harder for me to determine WHEN to take her to the potty. Also, she already thinks that the diaper is for the pee… and holds back when I do put her on the potty when she wakes up dry… up to fifteen minutes or more, after a two hour nap and waking dry! WHOA.

Well, new baby, new challenges. I cannot wait to embark.
