Who do YOU say He is?

December 13th, 2006 by meg in Doctrine/ Theology and Recent and Statement of Faith

This is the season when we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born of the virgin Mary. He was raised by Mary and Joseph, as a carpenter’s son. When he was 30 years old he started his ministry. He preached in the synagogues, and on the streets. He called Himself the Son of God. He was born in a stable, amongst the animals, and was killed on a cross thirty three years later. He wasn’t crucified for anything he did. He was crucified because he called Himself co-equal with God. The Pharisee’s didn’t like that, for if He were not God He was a blasphemer. Above His cross it read “the King of the Jews” and it was true. But they knew Him not, and crucified Him as prophesied. He called Himself God, Who do YOU say He is?

No man before or since has affected the world in this way. No man stands as His equal. No man even comes close. Jesus of Nazareth, worked miracles by His own Power, the Power of God. He laid down His life that we might abide eternally with Him in Heaven, it wasn’t taken from Him, He went willingly to die a painful death. By His own power He raised Himself up again on the third day and presented Himself alive to His disciples. He appeared among 500 people after He was dead and buried and risen again. He raised Himself bodily from the Dead, Who do YOU say He is?

A carpenter’s son, born in a stable, declared a King and ridiculed, abused and killed for who He was. Today He still affects the world. People are saved by His power. The power of life, over death. He called Himself “I AM”, the “light of the world”, the “prince of peace”, the “lamb of God”, “from everlasting to everlasting” He reigns. Through Him and by Him all things were created. Without Him not one thing was created. He was with the Father in the beginning, He is eternal, He the Savior. He said “no one comes to the Father but through Me”, He said “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father, for I and the Father are ONE” Who do YOU say He is?

Risen Lord, Kinsman Redeemer, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Anointed One, Light of the World. Jesus, God, Savior, Lord.

“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:44

Believe and be saved, for “ye must be born again”–
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

and “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7

Why I Believe the Bible is True…

September 22nd, 2006 by meg in Recent and Statement of Faith

Well I thought I better touch on this topic, but at the end of the post you will find links to other, better essays and articles about why we know the Bible is true. This particular post is a personal answer, only hitting the highlights, there are many many more reasons to believe it word for word.

Firstly, I believe that the Bible is true because of personal experience. I see it working in my life. I know that when I follow the principles and commandments in the Bible, my life is better. My marraige works, my kids obey, my heart isn’t troubled with drama etc. I see that when I show others the love that Jesus defined they are uplifted. I find that when I am struggling with difficult life circumstances relying on Jesus and His Word to solve the problem, or to carry me through the dark days, I am given peace and joy. A peace that passes understanding of the situation, and a joy that springs up from my spirit and cannot be doused. (these things are all posts in and of themselves, perhaps if I get inspired i will cover them sometime.)

Secondly,I believe the scriptures are true because history has not been able to deny its truth. No one has been able to say that these things are made up, with any proof. All evidence points to a clear historical line of manuscripts, originals and copies that are (if I recall correctly, ) 99% accurate (if i recall incorrectly, it may be 95.9%) either way that is VERY ompressive since Homer’s Illiad is considcered an accurate representation of the original and is based on far less. The Bible has been changed far less than the Illiad, and yet people don’t deny Homer as having written it, neither do they deny that it is the Illiad story! And the Bible was written far longer ago.

Thirdly, the Bible is supported not refuted by science. * Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)
* Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)
* Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)
* Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)
* Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)
* Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)
* Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)
* Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)
* Gravitational field (Job 26:7)
* and many others.

Fourthly, I believe that the Bible supports itself with fulfilled prophecies. There are thousands of prophecys in the Bible, none of which have been proven false, though there are some which are yet to be fulfilled. For examples concerning this topic, follow the following links and see for yourself what people with more time and dedication to the issue have discovered and painstakingly written for you.

What Does It Mean to be a True Christian?

August 25th, 2006 by meg in Recent and Statement of Faith and Prayer

Things that don’t make you a Christian:

  • Going to church on Sunday
  • Praying
  • Reading the Bible
  • Praying a prayer of acceptance of Christ
  • Being born and raised in a Christian environment/family
  • Believing in Jesus

So, alot of you right now are thinking, well I agree with some of that. Definately a person can go to church and not be Christian, or pray or read their Bible and not be Christian. Some of you might even see that being born into a Christian family doesn’t automatically make you a Christian, and that praying a prayer doesn’t make you a Christian, but are hung up on what I mean when I say “Believeing in Jesus doesn’t make you a Christian.” What?! You heard me! Believeing in Jesus, even believing in his death on the cross and His resurrection three days later, even believing He is God, and the Son of God and that He died for the sin of man does not a Christian make. HUH? How can that be you ask?? Well you came to the right spot, I am going to tell you.

First of all,we know that there are many who will die and come to the judgement thinking they are to be entered into Heaven but will not make it:

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

There are two things here that keep a man from Heaven, not doing the will of God, and not knowing Him. These two things go hand in hand, for if you know Him and love Him you will keep His commands. (”He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21, and ” If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15)

You can see that prophesying, healing, casting out demons, and using the power of the name of Jesus does not mean you KNOW Him. And does not enter ye into the Heavenly Gate!

I have been ruminating on this recently…. I knew for a long time that there were many in church who were not saved, I also understood that there were many who said they were but were not. But recently this is becoming a burden on my heart. These people are the most decieved. They believe they are in the Book of Life, but they are not. And why not? Because they did not KNOW Him.

Statement of Faith, and guidelines for discussions

March 15th, 2005 by meg in Statement of Faith

Let this be the guideline for all posts. We are not here to call each other names, nor to pass unrighteous judgment on the opinions of others especially when the opinions do not affect the basics of the faith. The faith being Chrisitanity, and the basics being thus:

1. We are all sinners, born in iniquity.
2. There is one God, who is manifest in three persons, The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit… One God, three persons…. ONE GOD….three persons, the Trinity.
3. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man, He became flesh and dwelt among us. He offered His body a sacrifice for the atonement of our sins, without which not one would be recieved in heaven.
4. Jesus was crucified, dead and buried. On the third day He rose again in a glorified body and now sits that the right hand of God almighty in heaven until His enemies are made his footstool.
5. Jesus will return again, for His bride the church, He will judge the quick and the dead, and send Satan to hell, along with all Satan’s angel horde, and people who have not chosen the Living God and Christs salvation.
6. A person is saved by grace and grace alone, works are dead. However, Jesus Himself says that after salvation your works are no longer dead and are a fruit of your redemption, thusly we all ought to have the fruits of the Spirit.

We ought not dilute the true and holy gospel, and we ought to remember that it has been said unto us, to love each other, and to not judge too quickly on a persons opinions. Even in Chrisitianity there is room for opinion, and we are to be set apart by our love and unity. I whole heartedly abhorr the division of God’s church. Let us be unified, bold, loving. In Christ we are all called to evangelism, we are all called to unity, we are all called to be subject “one unto the other”.

While writing your posts, please recall that namecalling is a thing of middle
schoolers, and as grown adults we ought to be a better example to those whom we seek to bring unto Christ. Let us be civil in our disagreements, differing one unto the other in areas not harming the truth of salvation.

That said, this site is going to address child rearing primarily, but as I am hot on fire to speak my mind about the church and doctrine, I suppose there will be a bunch of that here too. All opinions are welcome, but please lets try to remain gentle and civil toward each other as Christ has called us to be.
