These are the schedules I put together in Word, based on the information found in Managers of Their Homes, by Teri Maxwell. This is my Monday, Wednesday and Every Other Friday schedule. Tuesday is very different, but due to complications I’m not going to try to publish it here. Thursdays are still up in the air. I am trying to revise the old routine, which was to grocery shop all afternoon with four kiddos. I’d like to keep them out of the store more, and free up my afternoon for other important things, and also keep them home more, for stability. One other thing you just don’t get to see here is the beautiful colors that the schedule is ACTUALLY in. After the schedule I also posted my Chore Chart, (special thanks to Donna Young for the original layout.)

by the way, all those q’s are boxes on my Word document.

So far so good!! I am planning to get some made for what to do when I am sick, either with a pregnancy or some other time… I hope to get one made up relatively soon. Anyway, using this schedule has greatly improved the standard of living in our house. Not only are we cleaner, and more organized, but mom is way happier, kids are happier and all around things run much more smoothly. I have only been using the schedule as its printed for about three weeks, with just some tweaking. I still hope to be able to add in more things as we get more efficient with the current routine.

Well last month I started potty training Baby#3. She was thirteen months old. I put her in cloth diapers for a few days, then I started trying to guess when she was going. The cloth diapers I use, I didn’t use a cover for so that I could tell right away when she was wet.

She took to the potty like a fish to water! She definitely likes it. I took the diapers away for a couple days, maybe as much as a week, and tried to catch her pee, if it went on the floor I said “YAY pee pee”. Once she peed on the linoleum floor in the bathroom, she was shocked to hear that noise so she looked down in amazement. She smiled and I said “YAY pee pee”. This was the dawning of understanding for her.

The next day she was standing in a diaper, on the play mat and suddenly she looked down and said “YAY!” I picked her up and she had just peed. So I know she understands now.

A couple days after that I left her to play on the play mat, and heard her suddenly become insistant, she said “mommy. mommy” and I came and took her to the potty. She peed. She had been holding it for one hour.

Now the thing is to just get her to tell me BEFORE she has to go. I imagine this will be a little slower. This is my strategy:
Take her to the potty every forty five minutes, and say “do you have to go potty” each time. Then slowly start pressing the time back by five minute increments, and ask the question (until we start to have accidents). Then I will try to wait for her to indicate that she needs the potty.

I am also working on teaching her to say “potty”. she says a bunch of single words so I expect this one to come along any day now.

I am very excited, she seems to be the most interested in it and the quickest learner of any of my three so far. I am very confident that we will be out of diapers in the day (at least) by the time the new baby comes in March. She will probably even be taking herself to the potty, she can almost pull up her own undies. Watching a thirteen month old pull up her own undies is SO cute… She’s so tiny but boy when she gets a mind to do something she does it!

Mrs.MegLogan
p.s. sorry bout that yard sale, decided against it after all. Our house in NC sold, and I found it too time consuming to photo every garment, list it, answer questions about it, and get ready to mail it. *I opened it to some private friends to discover this*.

Now for a slightly different way to list things, since the one sentence thing really seemed too short to explain.

51. My husband handles all our finances. He thinks them through very carefully, he spends very frugally, he saves, and pays things ahead and he is BENT on being debt free and remaining so. I cannot say how much I appreciate this. He keeps track of how much we spend and we do not overspend. On the rare occasion that we must use credit for extended times he pays it off first and fast.

52. He wants to give me the things I want. Recently we were looking for a house and I fell in love with this Old Victorian, with 2800 sf and TONS of work. It was at the very top of our price range. I wanted it though. I told him so, and he tried to buy it for me. Isn’t he sweet? As it turned out, that was not the house the Lord had planned for us. But I still learned that my man would go so far as to lay down his own dreams to fulfill mine.

53. He is forgiving. When I mess up (happens often) and realize I was wrong, and say so… well he doesn’t throw it back in my face, and I never hear an “I told you so.” He doesn’t harp on it, and he doesn’t bring it up again.

54. He is patient. There are certain things which I struggle with nearly constantly. But he has this way of overlooking them.

55. However, he doesn’t continue to overlook them if the Lord has prompted him to address it. Which has made me a better woman. When the Lord tells him to address it, he does, and I get some serious conviction, and then I see some serious victory. I am grateful that I can trust him to lay the cards on the table when needed.

56. He goes out of his way, and against the grain of society to keep me a stay at home wife. He would never expect me to work. He wouldn’t likely put his foot down if I wanted to once the kids were in school. But he has never asked me to work, from day one, and we saw some DRY times.

57. When he sees which way to go, he is determined to go that way with success. He heard from the Lord to drop everything and move, and he did. Even though he moved to a place he despises. I can rely on that. I can trust that he is listening to the Holy Spirit.

58. He gives up material possessions to bless others. He frequently gives money to help others and I am both grateful for his generosity and for his financial ability to BE generous.

59. He is not consumed with materialism. He does not regularly covet things. In fact, sometimes this is a problem, liek around birthday time, I never know what to get him, because he doesn’t WANT for anything.

60. He is a techno-genius. I mean to say, he speaks in a foreign language about computers and things. He made this blog for me, and he taught me how to use it. He even bought me a laptop!!

62. He does not live in fear. So many people are worried about something. I rarely see him worry. Perhaps this is similar to his hiding his fear from me, like, maybe he hides his worry too… to keep me from worrying.

63. He usually sees the truth about who he is both the good and the bad. It takes a real man to admit his faults and to be humble about his achievements.

64. He loves my family. He fits right in. They love him too. How much more blessed can you get than to have a man who loves those you love?

65. I am totally confident that my man would never cheat on me. He has a will of steel, and a blind eye where other women are concerned. And I do mean BLIND, he practically doesn’t even SEE them.

66. When our relationship is rough, he tells me so, and doesn’t make me guess about what is bothering him. He knows I can change and would love to change for him.

67. My man is very strong. When the “dung has hit the fan”, he has stood firm, and been a strong tower in our family. He is the leader who holds us all together. When I am afraid I look to him, when I am broken, I can look to him. For example, when my son (my first child) was born he was very ill. The doctors said “we’ll know in 24 hours if he will live or not”. I thought he had already died in a way, because he was not with me, he was taken to a children’s hospital. My husband, after three days without sleep (yep long labor), still managed to hold strong for me. He did not break down into a useless mess. He was compassionate. He was understanding. But most of all, he was STRONG.

68. He is just FULL of witty remarks that keep us all on our toes and laughing.

69. He is PUN-ny. As in he is always thinking up some pun to make me laugh.

70. And boy can he make me laugh. When I want to scream or cry or just pitch a fit, he can just do the silliest things. At first they seem irritating, but then, they are just SO SILLY how can you not laugh and forget about yourself?

71. The way that he hugs and snuggles the babies, and looks adoringly at our older kids make me want to melt. There is nothing I find more attractive about my husband than when he is being DADDY.

72. And while he is being daddy, he really knows how to keep our son a SON, our son is not turning into some weak pansy. My man teaches him how to toughen up, how to carry heavy things, how to kill bugs for the girls, and how to be brave and a protector. *aww look at my goo goo eyes now*

73. He expects alot, and he gets it. He expects me to be the best wife and mother I can be, and I get better all the time. He expects our kids to be obedient and cheerful and just plain AWESOME and he gets it.

74.

I’m getting busy the rest of the day so I will have to finish this later. Hopefully tomorrow!
