Welcoming Baby Number Four!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Well, in about 9 months my husband and I will be welcoming baby number four into the house. Praise God, from whom ALL blessings flow.

“lo children are a heritage of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His REWARD. As arrows in the hand of a mighty warrior, so are children of thy youth, happy is the man who hath his quiver full of them…” Psalm 127:3-5

“…And wherefore one [flesh]? That he might seek a godly seed. …” Malachi 2:15

100 Reasons I Love My Husband (part 1)

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Well a lady whom I know from a forum posted a link to her list and it got me thinking about how I need to make one too.

This is the link to HER blog list, I believe there is or will soon be a mass list there of others who have taken up the list making.

Want to join me? Post a list on your blog, and then leave me a message or leave one at Psalm 128.
(Hmm, Still can’t make the linky show up in the text so here it is http://psalm128.wordpress.com/category/my-life/marriage/list-why-you-love-your-husband/ )

2. He is super intelligent.
3. He loves me even when I fail him.

24. He loves the babies we have, and plays with them.

Belated Father’s Day Post

Monday, June 18th, 2007

This one is for my husband, because he is a wonderful father, but his kids are too young to express it.

Just a list:
1. His four year old says “Daddy is SUPER!”
2. His one year old says “Lub oo DaDa.”
3. His wife notices: That Daddy has taught his son to “be a man”.
4. He has taught his son to respect his mother.
5. He demands respect from his children and they admire him for it.
6. He is astonishingly consistent in discipline.
7. He never seems to need to raise his voice!
8. He loves to play with his kids on the floor.
9. He talks to them seriously about serving the Lord he loves.
10. He sets high standards, and the kids live up to them.
11. He never contradicts me in front of the kids, (and that makes him a better man than I, because I do this one!)
12. He is hard, strong and still gentle as an example to those who follow him.
13. He always gives kisses when he goes to work.
14. He loves to hug the kids when he walks in the door.

My husband, is one of the best fathers I know. I am so grateful to God for giving me, and our kids, such a wonderful man, whom I can look up to, admire, ad emulate (in so far as a woman might emulate a man.) I look forward to many years of admiring his fathering skills, and I know his kids just adore him too.

p.s. I couldn’t post this yesterday because we were at church pretty much all day what with service, fellowshipping, and VBS..

Home Renovations

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Well, We are renovating the house. We currently have about 15oo square feet in our living house, and about 500 square feet in an adjacent “apartment”. (The “apartment” has water but no toilet). When we moved here four years ago, the house was a MESS. We had no A/C, the heat was electric baseboard and it cost an arm and a leg and didn’t even keep the house warm, (so we turned it off instead!). We had yucky floors all covered with Old, dirty linoleum, and a poorly designed kitchen, with no dish washer, among other things. (Well my husband likes to say that HE had a dishwasher, aka, ME! lol)

In the first four years we upgraded the flooring to cheapo, self installed carpet, in the main living room, and a nice, cheapo professionally installed carpet in the Playroom. Plus we installed cheapo vinyl (which has held up remarkably well for the low price we paid!) in the kitchen. We were blessed with those things, plus a heat pump, which here in the South is plenty to both cool and heat our house for a very reasonable electric bill. The Lord blessed us with an automatic dishwasher in the third year, and a great deal on a new stove in the beginning of the fourth year. Last year hubby re-roofed the “apt” and had someone finish up the main house (as he was too busy to get to it!) The roofing required removing three layers of asphalt shingle, and replacing many boards.

This is what we have done in the last month and a half.
- gutted the “apartment” including removal of a chimney
- reinforced the roofing beams, and leveled the ceiling (”apt”)
- built walls in the “apt”
- installed sheet rock in the “apt”
- painted the “apt”
- painted the whole inside and outside of the house
- pressure washed the outside of the house
- got new vinyl siding on the “apt” (so now the buildings match)
- had all the windows re-glazed (we have old fashion windows), and the trim painted
- taken numerous trips to the dump, one such trip my husband did alone, and he loaded up and off loaded a total of 2.8 tons in one load!
- Removed all the old cabinets from the kitchen
- installed new cabinets
- installed new counters (almost done)
- killed weeds in the front gardens, trimmed back the bushes, and laid down some nice pine nugget mulch

And this is what is left to do:
- finish the kitchen: the counters, the backsplash tile work, the kitchen sink, the peninsula and counter, finish the vinyl flooring
- Finish the flooring throughout house: new carpet EVERYWHERE and in the “apt”
- freshen up the front yard, and plant something pretty in the flower pots
- seal the chimney
- replace a toilet seat
- Clean up all the dust from the remodel!

Ahh and then we shall be living in an amazing house! Right now, I am living in a construction zone. It is fascinating! My whole living room is taken over by boxed cabinets and such, my kitchen is only half way done, and the kids rooms are full of furniture that we will be moving to get the carpet down. It is interesting to say the least!

And what have I learned??

I have learned that God works on HIS timing. That contractors work on THEIR timing and that MY timing really doesn’t matter! LOL.
I have also learned that my husband is a genius! Not only can he do amazing things with a computer, but he can build walls, install cabinets, be a mason, eat practically nothing while the kitchen is a mess, deal with serious stress and missed “deadlines” and STILL smile. Not to mention that but he is seriously strong! The man can carry two sheets of 4×8 sheetrock ALONE, and can lift and install ceiling height 42 inch wide cabinets by himself! He is also amazing with math, determining the EXACT reason that a ceiling is sagging, and how to fix that, plus finding out what the slope is on the kitchen floor and making the cabinets level. HA, what a guy! Just an all around Renaissance man over here.

“Life Questions”

Monday, January 29th, 2007

I found this on another blog and thought ti would be fun to replay here. This is where I found it, the Kellogg Castle.

1) Do you love your spouse?

Oh yes I do. Completely.

2) How did you meet your spouse?

I was in his dorm room hitting on his roommate, his roommate’s girlfriend walked in so I gave up, but hung around momentarily. Then in walked my future husband. We hit it off right away, and chatted the whole night.

3) How long did you date before you were married?

3yrs, (too long)

4) How many times did you break up before you were married?

uhm… lets see, once he tried to break up with me summer after freshman year (didn’t work), then again sometime in our sophmore year, (nope, didn’t work again) then I think finally we “called it quits” six months before the wedding in our senior year, but obviously that one didn’t stick either!

5) How many times a month do you fight?

Uhm, am I pregnant or not? LOL… I admit I start most of the fights, but we don’t fight too much anymore. We used to fight like cats and dogs, even before we were married. But the Lord has redeemed the time, and worked wonders in place of our failures.

6) What side of the bed do you sleep on?
hmm, if you stand at the foot of the bed and look at it, I sleep on the left, if we are in the bed looking out, I guess that is the right.

7) Who is the money maker?

My wonderful husband!! Thank you hun!

8) What kind of car do you drive?
2001 Toyota Echo I think, it’s green.

14) Who pays the bills physically?
My husband can add, so he takes care of all that!

15) What kind of car does your spouse drive?
We only have one.

16) What does your spouse do for a living?
He works the help desk at a mortgage insurance company. He is currently doing projects which involve programming, basic supervision of co-workers, and answering phones to solve problems when they need him to.

Our first apartment for three months, our friends house for a month, our second apartment for six months? then this house for the last three nearly four years.

We are still praying about this!

19) Where do you both love to vacation?
Vacation? we try to visit with family. Wherever they are we want to be!

We don’t eat out much, but my husband likes this little steak place called Logan’s. and I like to eat out period. *grin*

21) What is a great date?
Taco Bell and a movie at home (when the kids are in bed)

22) Who makes the decisions?
My husband makes most decisions. I decide what to make for dinner and what to buy at the store. He graciously hears my opinion on most things.

23) Who mows the lawn?
My man!

25) Who’s family do you see the most?
That’s a tough call. We try to see them equally and to involve them in our lives.

26) How many nieces and nephews do you have?
none

27) Do you like being married?
It’s way better than any other lifestyle I have tried. Read my testimony and you will see I have tried a few. I love my man and my life.
