Arthur,

That is so true, and I find myself so often expressing the same things.

I say this often because I feel it's never said enough. The blessings God has power to bestow on His beloved are far greater than material wealth can ever boast. This is not by any means meant to 'knock' material blessings, but a teaspoon of humility is worth a gallon of success.

Speaking as someone God has raised from the ashes, I can say that the financial blessings He has given me are great and well appreciated, but it is the ability to stand on my own two feet that I'm most thankful for. Yes, I praise God for my position of authority, but far sweeter is the opportunity to minister to my staff and be an encouragement to them always doing the will of Him who sent me.

I say to anyone who is reading this, I'm thankful for every dollar the Lord has helped me to earn, but I'm more thankful that He has cleared out my heart of old darkness so deeply rooted. I could have gotten a job on my own stength and bought a car, but I never could have cleansed my heart of the hateful, spiteful, depraved, anguished and selfish thing it had become through a lifetime of living for myself.

Funny thing about looking out for oneself, it's always self-destructive. But by making Jesus the focus of one's life, and depriving oneself of one's own desires, one gains true life, the inheritance promised in the Bible to all who would believe in the Blood of the Lamb.

Love,
Arthur

I'm so glad you went to such lengths with this passage. I've always loved it myself, but hadn't thought of the storehouse the same way, or in how bountiful it is to have to constantly give things away to keep up with all the accumulation. Great way to see it, and to open other's eyes!

I often think how different our perspective on wealth here in America would be if we had to live in a third-world country for any amount of time. It's amazing we complain at all. I love talking about it with my kids, and hopefully it fosters an appreciation for all they have, as well as a heart of mercy towards those less fortunate.

I'm glad you are feeling better...that first trimester is challenging! I only had to deal with a little bit of nausea though, mostly exhaustion!

A very nice post indeed. Our loving Lord tells us that we are to be thankful, and it's clear that you are. I am so happy that your illness is subsiding.
