On Forgiveness and Reconciliation

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

This is a huge topic, one I cannot cover in one post, and since I rarely do a series, it is unlikely I will cover the whole of this topic at all. So consider this an intro.

We have all sinned against a brother or sister at one time or another. We have all been sinned against. But how many of us do what the Word says regarding this? How many of us really know the gravity of the situation?

Did you know:

You are to forgive seven times seventy times for the same offense? Mat 18:20 and Mat18:21 and Lk 17:4
If you do not forgive as you have been forgiven the Father will not forgive you? Mat 6:15 and Mar 11:26
You are to reconcile with an offended brother before you come to worship the Lord? Mat 5:23, 24

I Taught My Baby To Use the Potty!

Monday, December 18th, 2006

WOW,

I taught my baby to use the potty. What?! What do you mean?

When my daughter was three weeks old I started sitting her on the baby potty in my lap. I caught many pee’s and made a special sound and a hand sign when she went. This called attention to my baby’s pee, and over time she began to associate the sound, the sign, and the feel of the potty on her bottom with the sensation of peeing.

When she was about 5 months, I started to get stressed about it, so I stopped doing it for several weeks. Only putting her on the potty occasionally and only catching a pee once in a while. But a few weeks ago (around her 8 month birthday) she crawled to me and said “mammama” and whined at me. She isn’t normally like that, so I asked her if she wanted to eat and made the hand sign to go with it, but she stared at me blankly. So I thought, “why not see if she will potty?”. I asked her if she wanted to potty and made the hand sign, and she got all excited so I took off her diaper and put her on. And guess what! She peed!

I thought it was a fluke, but more and more she fusses a bit and I ask her if she wants the potty and she gets excited or smiles at me, so I put her on and she pees! She has even poo’d once or twice! I’m so excited! I think she might use the potty, when she asks, but with my help, by the time she is a year old. Then I can say BYE BYE diapers!

Who do YOU say He is?

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

This is the season when we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born of the virgin Mary. He was raised by Mary and Joseph, as a carpenter’s son. When he was 30 years old he started his ministry. He preached in the synagogues, and on the streets. He called Himself the Son of God. He was born in a stable, amongst the animals, and was killed on a cross thirty three years later. He wasn’t crucified for anything he did. He was crucified because he called Himself co-equal with God. The Pharisee’s didn’t like that, for if He were not God He was a blasphemer. Above His cross it read “the King of the Jews” and it was true. But they knew Him not, and crucified Him as prophesied. He called Himself God, Who do YOU say He is?

No man before or since has affected the world in this way. No man stands as His equal. No man even comes close. Jesus of Nazareth, worked miracles by His own Power, the Power of God. He laid down His life that we might abide eternally with Him in Heaven, it wasn’t taken from Him, He went willingly to die a painful death. By His own power He raised Himself up again on the third day and presented Himself alive to His disciples. He appeared among 500 people after He was dead and buried and risen again. He raised Himself bodily from the Dead, Who do YOU say He is?

A carpenter’s son, born in a stable, declared a King and ridiculed, abused and killed for who He was. Today He still affects the world. People are saved by His power. The power of life, over death. He called Himself “I AM”, the “light of the world”, the “prince of peace”, the “lamb of God”, “from everlasting to everlasting” He reigns. Through Him and by Him all things were created. Without Him not one thing was created. He was with the Father in the beginning, He is eternal, He the Savior. He said “no one comes to the Father but through Me”, He said “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father, for I and the Father are ONE” Who do YOU say He is?

Risen Lord, Kinsman Redeemer, Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, Anointed One, Light of the World. Jesus, God, Savior, Lord.

“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:44

Believe and be saved, for “ye must be born again”–
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 and “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7

Scriptures on Salvation

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Seems like this post is a long time coming. Thanks to Tom Foss for finally pushing me to deal with it en masse.

Let us go straight to the Word. The ultimate authority on salvation, and good and evil works.

1. All have sinned.

“There is none righteous no not one.” Romans 3:10
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

2. We all deserve Death and Hell because of our sin against God.

“For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God.” Psalms 9:17
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Mat 10:28 This verse is here to show that hell will consume both body and soul.

3. The Way of Salvation is Through Jesus Christ alone.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (that name is Jesus and no other)

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

4. Salvation comes through the grace of Jesus, by our belief in His power to save.

“But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved , even as they.” Act 15:11
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Act 16:31
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”. Rom 10:9

Regarding why we are to do good things:

“For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

This means that you cannot get to heaven or find salvation by doing good. It is a working of grace, which is through your faith, and your faith is a gift of God.

” But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isa 64:6

ALL WE DO FADES, is worthless, anyway we fancy ourselves to be righteous is filthy except in this:
“For as by one man’s (ADAM) disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (JESUS) shall many be made righteous.” Rom 5:19 (Parenthetical Caps added, by author, for clarity.) We are made righteous in Jesus, not by anything we do, we cannot possibly do anything righteous of our own power. In the Scriptures this is expressed in the following verses from Romans 8.

Rom 8:5 “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”

Rom 8:6 “For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.”

Rom 8:7 “Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”

Rom 8:8 “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Nothing we do without the Spirit if Jesus (the Holy Spirit) within us is pleasing to God. you receive the Holy Spirit when you choose to have faith in Jesus Christ. You choose Him, by that faith, when the Lord has called you and has given you that faith.

So why do those who are in Christ do good? Now that we are free from penalty why do we do good?
It is written: “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14:23 and “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15 So those who love Jesus will obey Him, because they love Him.

There is SO much more scripture on these topics, this is just a brief overview. Any one topic could be a post in and of itself. Perhaps one day I will write a series on it. For now, I pray that you will repent, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that you might spend eternity in heaven with Him.

Blessed is the Lord who reigns forever and ever. Blessed is the Savior who came and willingly died that we might have life eternally. Blessed be the lamb that was slain. Praise the Father who sent Him to die, Praise the Son who died willingly, Praise the Spirit who convicts us of sin, who abides within and empowers us to righteousness.

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
