Tamia’s Song “ME” ( I think that is what it is called)

November 21st, 2006 by meg in Recent

There is a singer out there, named Tamia, I’ve only heard her once. But this morning I heard her sing a song all about herself. The lyrics go something like this “there’s another person in my life, it’s not a man, it’s a woman. You ask me her name, her name is ME.” Then she goes on to sing “and she loves me more than you’ll ever know.” and she continues to say that she will choose ME over the man who she is either dating or married to. Case in point: Me-ism, ruins marriage. This woman blatantly sings that she loves herself more than she loves her mate, and that she is going to choose herself over her mate… *sigh* Brazenly singing about self love… unbelievable.

On The Fear of the Lord

November 17th, 2006 by meg in Doctrine/ Theology and Recent

The Fear of The Lord

“The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” Proverbs 1:7

There are those who mock and revile the Living God. They test His patience, and brazenly flaunt their sin before His eyes. They call Him “liar”, and declare Him to be weak. They know not what they do!

Where the people lack a fear of the Lord we can be assured that they are walking in blindness. The things of the Spirit are spiritually discerned, and having not the Spirit they do not comprehend. “And the light (Jesus) shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:5

. Those who do not fear the Lord, are walking in darkness. The light is shining. In fact it is shining from this very website, for I proclaim the Gospel of the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, Lamb of the World, sent to die for your sin, that you might have life everlasting. It is surely shining. But the darkness comprehended it not. Instead of seeing the Light for what it is, they think it a lie. They revile His Name, they curse Him, and blaspheme. ‘And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil’ (John 3:19).

But He is calling, He is sending out His Spirit among men. Open your ears and hear the truth proclaimed. Fear the Lord. This is not the end of life. After we pass from these bodies, there is more, and where you spend all that time depends on what you choose here. For “The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.” Psalms 19:9

.

Num 23:19 “God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” And God has promised justice, eternal justice. He will judge the quick and the dead. What does that mean? He will judge the saved (who are quick: alive) and the lost (who are dead in spirit). Those who choose Him, those who have a healthy fear of an Almighty God, and believe on His son, will be saved from the just penalty of their sin. Those who do not, will be winnowed out, and sent, with their father who is the devil, into the pit of hell. ‘The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters’ Matthew 12:30; if you are not with Him, you are against Him, there is no neutral ground.

Not one of us is righteous, not one of us is good. None of us can come to the Father lest He calls us. But neither do we have excuse, for it is written “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Romans 1:20

. The creation of the world testifies to His power and Godhead, we are ALL without excuse. We have all been called. Nature testifies to His glory, and we are all able to see. Some of us would choose not to.

The way of the cross is foolishness to those who know Him not. Those who refuse to accept what is plainly before their eyes, consider those of us who see the Truth as fools. But they do not know what they do, for they do not comprehend the Light.

I pray that the fear of the Lord would be upon them. That the Holy Spirit would soften their hearts, and open their eyes before it is too late. The day is drawing closed, and He is calling you. He is calling you to be filled, and to be blessed, and to come home to Him. He loves us all, and died that we might be spared an eternity separated from His glory. Just say “Yes Lord, I hear and I obey. Forgive me of my sins. Command me, I will do Your bidding.”

And here are some other verses which address the fear of the Lord.

Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding.

Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do [his commandments]: his praise endureth for ever.

Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Pro 1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Pro 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.

Pro 14:26 In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Pro 14:27 The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Pro 15:33 The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom; and before honour [is] humility.

Pro 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD [men] depart from evil.

The Holy Spirit at Work in Me!

November 14th, 2006 by meg in Holy SPirit and Recent

You ever feel like you’re just completely powerless?

I suppose that is a good place to be, since it is TRUE. We are completely powerless to change ourselves. It is the Lord alone who can cause us to change into His righteousness. Though I struggle and desire to be holy, I fail miserably on my own strength. It is only when I give up, and yield to the Holy Spirit that anything happens at all.

Take this for an example, I am about 35 pounds or more over weight. I allowed myself to be under condemnation for it for months. I couldn’t lose the weight. Instead, I ate MORE, and gained weight. I ate, because I was so frustrated that I was fat. (I know, makes no sense does it!) Except when we read this :”For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Rom 7:19… and I am with Paul when he says “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” in verse 24. Yes who shall deliver me?? The Holy Spirit shall deliver me, for it is HE who works in me both to WILL and to DO. It is by HIS power that I can succeed, and in fact already have the victory.

Back to the example… I long to lose weight. I know that being this heavy is not God’s will for my body. He does not desire to see me hurting myself. He has put about ways that I can eat healthy and be healthy in my physical body. But my flesh is weak. I know what it is I ought to do, but I do it not. I tried to get more formulas, I tried to implement a workout routine, but I couldn’t even stick to that! And when I failed at exercising regularly, I ate! In fact nothing that I have done has allowed me to lose weight. Until this:

I gave up. I remembered these verses:
1. “[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Rom 8:1

Which I immediately put into practice, by refusing to beat myself up over it anymore.
2. “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27 .
3. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.” Phil 2:13
Since it is God’s will that I be healthy, and since I cannot do anything on my own, but with the power of the Holy Spirit, all things are possible unto me, well… I just gave up, and told God that HE would have to change me from the inside out. DUH. Of course! So last week, all I did was pray. I prayed every time I wanted a snack. I prayed before I ate, that I would stop when I had had enough. I decided to listen to the Holy Spirit’s whispering, that still small voice that told me I didn’t need food, but that God was sufficient for me. That man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. That God would sustain me. And you know what else? It wasn’t even hard! The Lord was merciful unto me. He kept me from feeling hungry. He gave me strength, and will and caused me to do that which only a week before I was unable to do.

Last week I lost FIVE POUNDS!

Did I exercise? NO. Did I do anything in particular? NO. All I did was stand firm on the Word of the Lord. I allowed HIM to not only work in me to will to lose the weight, but to ACTUALLY do the steps and things needed to lose it.

The Holy Spirit within me gave me the victory, and will continue to do so, as long as I continue to yield, and to give up my futile attempts to perfect myself. I am powerless to change myself in anyway. It is by His power alone that I can change.

Thank You God! Thank you for the Holy Spirit. I even thank that Holy Spirit for working in me! All praise and honor belong to God alone!

Now, if I could just remember this in practice today! Since it would seem everything that could possibly annoy me IS! (screaming baby, whiny three year old, sewing machine not working right and I’m on a deadline, and even the HICCUPS!) But the Lord is in control, He knows, He hears my cries, and He is able to cause me both to will and to do His good pleasure. In this case it is to keep a good attitude, and to care for my children with gentleness. Praise God He has already won this victory!

On Divorce from Comments

November 10th, 2006 by meg in Recent

Since I needed to put a bit about the sin of divorce on the front page here for Lux Venit, I thought I would copy and paste this conversation from my comments on the article “Two Complaints“. The other post I have written regarding the sin of divorce is in the tab at the top of the page. This is impromtu, simply cut and pasted from the comments box… but it is pretty clear. –Mrs. Meg Logan
