Weekend Kindness

October 7th, 2006 by meg in Recent

The
purpose of the meme is to get people motivated to be kind to our fellow men and
women and to encourage one another in that pursuit.

My Weekend Kindness

Host a family or treat someone to lunch.

You can spread some kindness by treating a family to lunch either at your house or on your dime out. Be spontaneous in your invitation, if the first family you ask cannot come, then ask another. I think the best time to do the asking is Satruday night for a Sunday lunch. But I plan on having my parents in our home for the whole weekend. I can’t wait to shower them with kindness, and joy. To serve them food and be with their good company.

Link to Weekend Kindness Where you can post how you followed through. Or if you did some other act of kindness we all would like to hear about that too.

Is Jesus an Angel??

October 6th, 2006 by meg in Doctrine/ Theology and Recent

This one question is so easily refuted that it is beyond me how anyone can believe it. Yet, there is a whole “cult” (for lack of a better term) that believe’s it and teaches it. Wondering what that sect is? Its the Jehovah’s Witness. Yup, they think that Jesus was an angel. They came to my door yesterday, and I asked them “what do JW’s say about Jesus?” and their answer was very round about.

This is what they said “Well, we believe he is the Son of God, and our ransomer. That he came from Heaven and died on the cross to save us from our sins.” Sounds pretty normal right? WRONG!… After that I asked them “So do you believe He was an angel?” (because of course I already knew they did, but they were hedgeing answering that one.) and they said “Well yes we do, but He was the Son of God, He was an angel because He came from Heaven.” NOPE wrong again! Well, I then stated “So you do not believe He was God?”
and they said “No he was an angel” And there we have it folks, a false “savior” who has no actual power over sin.

Well, at the time I was caught off guard and did not have my Bible or the appropriate verse handy (shame on me! “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”). This morning however I cracked open my Bible to John 1:1-18

. Within these passages is the answer to Christ’s deity. It is so blatantly obvious, that I just cannot understand how they will gloss over it. I am hoping that they will come back to see if I read their junk, so I can bring up the essential topic once again.

Here is the answer, NO Jesus was not an angel, YES He was/is God, equal in power and glory, and Spirit.
John 1:1

“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
What is the Word?? well skip to verse 14 “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…” and a bit later the Word become flesh, is named verse 17 “…but grace and truth come by Jesus Christ”.

Well there you have it. It might seem incomprehensible, the Trinity(corrected), but nevertheless it is scriptural.

Signing Off,
Mrs Meg Logan
p.s. there are other verses that address this issue, many others, but this one is pretty blatant, and i think it is sufficient. If you still want to see more verses just mention it in the comments and I will post a list of more.

Out of the Mouth of Babes (or Teaching our Children Through our Mistakes)

October 5th, 2006 by meg in Children and Recent

I believe in living my life with an open hand (giving), and an open (transparent) heart. This means that I choose to show even the not so nice parts of myself to those around me, and to allow my mistakes to be used for God’s glory. Many times God has used my failure, my sin, my mistake to reach another person’s heart, and just today that person was my son.

Let me recount for you the damage we do when we do not guard our tongue.

Recently, about four weeks ago, my closest friend (whom I have known for four years), and I were having a discussion about money and children. I said something very rude to her and insulted her husband’s financial wisdom, among other things. That is the confession. What I said was so rude and offensive and outside of my place, that she decided we no longer needed to speak to each other. In fact, she hasn’t called me since.

Now, because we have not seen each other, my son’s closest friend (her daughter) has not been over to play in quite a while. Today, my son finally asked about it and this is what happened:

On Coming Home…

October 5th, 2006 by meg in Homemaking and Recent

As most of you know, I am a stay at home wife and mother. I thought I might tell you why, incase you ever wondered.

Biblical Reasons

Frist and foremost my reasons for coming home and staying there revolve around the Word of God. He has set a role for women to fill, a very special role that ONLY a woman can fill. We were created to be helpers to our husbands Gen 2:18

. (mouse over to see verse). It is not good that he be alone, so God created us women especially for our men, to love them and nurture them, to care for their homes and their children as we are commanded in Tit 2:5 . That we are to be obedient to our husbands Eph 5:22 . This does not demean us, or take from us freedom, but rather opens true freedom to us, in that we are free to love as we are made to, and to find joy in being women of purpose.

It seems pretty clear to me that a woman who is seeking to serve her Master, the Lord Jesus, will find in her heart the desire to be at home. If that desire is not there “naturally” the good Lord is faithful to give to those who ask, just as He gave it to me. In order to be a good helper for our husbands, Titus 2 tells us that we must be keepers at home, and obedient to him. Now I have known some men who require their wives to work, I believe it is wrong, but it is not for the woman to rebel against her husband’s wishes. A faithful woman would submit to his desire that she work outside of the home until such time as the Lord changes her husband’s heart and he allows her to come home. Our first priority is serving the Lord, and our second is serving our husbands. After which comes children and home.

Homeschooling Season Begins

October 4th, 2006 by meg in Homeschooling and Children and Recent

Here at the Logan residence, the homeschool year is beginning on October 9th. Why October 9th? Well, as it happens, I was given a free Bob Jones curriculum to use last March. And as it turned out the first part of it was not related to seasonal things, but the second semester was! So, I put school on hold from July to October, and plan on resuming on Columbus day. I will begin with helping my son create a ship out of blocks, and we will be talking about Christopher Columbus, and his sailing in 1492. We will talk a bit about boats, and what life was like in 1492.

We will also be delving more deeply and consistently into the math curriculum that I have embarked on. It is for five year olds, but so far he seems to find it both interesting and easy. I am excited to continue with it. This next week we will be learning about more than and less than. We will be doing all kinds of fun things to help us understand value. We will be finger counting. Counting circles, and comparing sizes. We will get out the colored chalk and write on the black board (Peter just loves this!)
