Look at this!

How can anyone see things like the complexity of space and think that it was all an accident? WOW… Check out this website and the photo of a supernova. Keep in mind that this is what the supernova looked like 2000 years ago. We are only seeing it now… amazing and vast. How great is our God!

Another List: Things I want to learn how to do (self sustaining)

August 30th, 2006 by meg in Homemaking and Recent

These are all things pertaining to self sustenance. I think it would be very useful to know how to do these things, particularly to be frugal, and have the freshest stuff, but also you never know when the world as we know it might stop functioning, and this way I could be prepared to serve my family well.

-how to grow enough food to feed my whole family all year round (you know with canning etc.)
- how to preserve foods, veggies, fruits, meats…
- how to cook on a wood stove or open fire, especially baking.
- how to compost effectively
- how to care for laying hens and meat chickens
- how to milk a goat or cow by hand (and how to care for them), i have actually milked a cow by hand but I am not very good at it, it is EXTREMELY SLOW…

My Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

August 29th, 2006 by meg in Homemaking and Recent

Oh lately I have been making bread. In fact I have enjoyed it so much that I have made all of the bread my family eats and don’t buy it anymore. Of course, I make it in a bread machine so that makes it even more enjoyable.

This is my perfect Wheat Bread, comes out nutty, with a fine and chewy crumb, moist and semi- dense, but not heavy.

Ingredients:

1 1/3 cup whole milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup molasses

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons instant yeast

3 cups whole wheat flour

1/4 to 1/2 cup bread flour

add all the wet ingredients to the bread machine “pan”.

add the salt to the liquids

add the flours on top (start with 1/4 cup of lightly scooped bread flour, not packed, not leveled)
then put the yeast on top of that

turn machine onto the Wheat bread, two pound, rapid rise setting (2:20 minutes), with a medium crust. Then press start.

I check the bread at the first mix cycle, and make sure it is mixing right. this is where I may add a bit more flour, to get it into a smooth ball that isnt sticking to the walls.

Then i sit back and relax and smell the wonders of fresh bread in my own home!

It takes about 5 minutes to put all the ingredients into the pan and turn it on. and 5 minutes to clean up the tools for measuring. then i wait two hours till the bread is done.

I put the finished bread onto a wood cutting board to cool about 10 to 15 minutes. I do this so that when I cut into the bread it doesn’t compress the fine crumb. I particulalry enjoy the first slice a bit warm, with soft butter and blueberry jam… OH SO GOOD.

Oprah’s Outrageous Claims…

August 28th, 2006 by meg in Recent

It’s all about me!

Today on Oprah Lance Armstrong’s ex-wife came on the show to “warn women about marraige”. YIKES, I knew we were in trouble before it even began.

An do you want to know what it is that she is warning us about? About losing yourself in marraige… And we wonder why people get divorced.

Oprah even said it is a lie that we have to lose ourselves. She says she thinks that is not a part of what we have to do for marraige. Uhm, Hello! “those who lose their lives shall find it” and this doesnt just mean martyrs. It means to LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE for YOUR FRIENDS, and husband and kids and etc.

It can’t get any more plain people. Marraiges don’t work in the world because people want “partnerships” there is no partnership. Marraige works only when at least one party decides to do the Christian thing and lay down their SELF for their spouse. Oh and it only takes one person to do this, if they do it continually it is extremely unlikely that the other person will file for divorce. WHy? because they will have everything they ever dreamed of at home.

I dont even think i can comment further on her stupidity. the book “Lies At the Altar” is such a lie… Dont fall for it people. Read the Bible and find out what marraige really is. Then don’t decide it isnt for you because it is hard. Marraige is a gift! When you lose yourself, then you will find true joy, and will realize who you really are.

I personally think that personality is overrated. I mean really, there are some things that we ARE, because God made us that way, but MOST of our “personality” is cultural influence.

My personality has changed alot since i have been married. I am quieter, gentler, less opinionated (i know you cant believe that one! lol), and over all BETTER. People would not describe me the same today as they would have four years ago. and that is a GOOD thing. We worship “self” and “personality” saying it is “god given” but really it is FLESH, and just our selfish desires. Give up yourselves and discover who God really made you to be.

Peace in the PRocess,

Mrs. Meg Logan
